Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade: 1 tsp chili powder, ½ tsp cumin, ½ tsp paprika, ½ tsp oregano, salt & pepper)
  • ½ cup tomato sauce (or canned diced tomatoes)
  • 8 small taco shells (hard or soft tortillas)

Toppings (choose your favorites):

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded cheddar or Mexican cheese blend
  • Sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • Salsa or pico de gallo
  • Guacamole or sliced avocado
  • Jalapeños
  • Fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef
    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add chopped onion and cook until soft (2–3 minutes).
    • Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
    • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  2. Season the beef
    • Drain excess fat if needed.
    • Stir in taco seasoning and tomato sauce.
    • Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened and flavorful.
  3. Warm the shells
    • Heat taco shells in the oven for a few minutes or warm tortillas in a pan for 30 seconds per side.
  4. Assemble tacos
    • Spoon the beef mixture into each shell.
    • Top with lettuce, cheese, salsa, sour cream, and your favorite toppings.
  5. Serve immediately
    • Enjoy while warm, with lime wedges on the side for extra freshness.
