Nut Crackers

A nutcracker is a tool or device used to crack open the hard shells of nuts, such as walnuts, almonds, or hazelnuts, to get to the edible part inside.

There are a few different types:

Lever-type Nutcracker (most common): Looks like pliers or scissors. You place the nut between the two metal parts and squeeze the handles together to crack the shell. Screw-type Nutcracker: Has a screw mechanism that slowly applies pressure to crack the shell—more controlled and less messy. Spring-loaded Nutcracker: Uses a spring to apply quick pressure on the nut when pressed. Decorative Nutcrackers (like the Christmas ones): These are often shaped like toy soldiers or figures. Some can crack nuts, but many are just decorative or used as holiday ornaments, especially in German or Austrian traditions.
